Rev. Samuel Buehrer (pronounced like “purer” with a B) has deep roots in the Midwest. Sam graduated from Archbold Ohio High School; received his B.S. from Heidelberg in Tiffin, Ohio; and his Master of Divinity from United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities, Minnesota.
Sam has served three churches in the Ohio Conference of the United Church of Christ: Spencerville UCC in Spencerville (5 years); First UCC in Galion, Ohio (almost 20 years); Sylvania UCC in Sylvania (6 years). He is currently sabbatical pastor at St. Paul UCC in Wapakoneta, where a member of one of his confirmation classes in Galion serves.
He and his wife, Ellen, have two adult sons. They are a real Midwestern family. His parents still live in his hometown of Archbold. One son lives in Columbus, Ohio; the other in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Ellen is a professional librarian. She is excited about the Evansville libraries and pursuing a position at one of them. Sam enjoys camping, canoeing, back-packing, reading, and singing.
